At ProActive Athletic Performance, We Specialize in Return-to-Sports Testing and Strength & Conditioning

Testing and Therapy Services

What To Expect In Your Testing Session

When you come in, we’ll start with a 15-20min warm-up starting either on the treadmill or bike, and then we’ll do a general movement warmup in the gym. Next, we’ll move on to the tests and we start with the Vald ForceDecks System which looks at the entire lower extremity strength and power.

Then we’ll go to the Humac NORM isokinetic system for testing that isolates each individual muscle for strength testing and rate of torque development.

When we’re finished I’ll go over the results with you and break down what they mean.

The numbers and torque lines tell us is where you are along the rehab process by quantifying each segments strength and muscle balance. This lets us know your areas that need to be focused on in your next phase of training as well as your relative risk of re-injury and can let us estimate your return to sport timeline.

After you leave I’ll send you, your rehab team, and the surgeon the reports and I’ll also make a written and video breakdown of my interpretation.

As we do not participate with insurance companies, you will submit payment directly to us either in person or through our medical records host (JaneApp). Once we receive payment, I’ll email you a Superbill receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

Our Equipment Makes the Difference

Humac NORM Isokinetic System

After injury and surgery, the strength of key muscles systems is diminished. The Humac NORM Isokinetic system is the best way to uncover strength deficits and imbalances which can place you at a higher risk of re-injury with return to sports. Training on the Humac NORM targets those specific deficiencies to reduce your injury risk and improve sports performance.

Vald ForceDecks

As part of your rehabilitation after injury or surgery, you will perform jumping and agility tasks. Unfortunately, the human body is really good at relearning compensation movement patterns to perform those tasks which can mask readiness for return to sports and increase the risk of reinjury. The ForceDecks System by VALD is able to uncover asymmetries with jumping and landing tasks to reduce that injury risk and get you functioning at full capacity on the field or court.

Humac Computerized Balance

Whether you sustained an ankle sprain, ACL-r, or a Total Knee Replacement, computerized balance helps restore proprioceptive control early through visual biofeedback during weight shifting tasks and closed kinetic exercise. After injury, the body will naturally learn to compensate, but the HUMAC Computerized Balance System by CSMi allows patients to see how they’re loading and moving in order to not learn bad movement habits that can be hard to break once developed.

Shuttle MVP Pro 3300

After injury or surgery, you will not be able to safely load your full body weight on the injured limb but the The SHUTTLE MVP PRO, we can unload the your weight allowing you to return to squatting and jumping activities early. As you progress through rehab, the SHUTTLE MVP allows us to load as heavy as 700lbs for continued sports progression

Blood flow Restriction Training

Blood Flow Restriction training (BFRt) combines limb occlusion and low-load exercise to trigger the body’s natural anabolic pathways. You get the same training effect of exercising at light loads with BFR as you do with heavier loads without BFR. This allows us to get the strengthening effects earlier in the rehab process while your injury limits how heavy you’re able to load.

BlazePods Reaction Training System

One of the biggest obstacles to returning to sports is the ability to adapt to your opponent. BlazePods is a neurocognitive reaction training system that improves your reaction time, agility, and sports performance that allows you to return to your sport at the highest level of readiness.

Strength and Conditioning

After being discharged from your traditional physical therapy care, the next step is getting the strength and work capacity required for your sport or activity. At ProActive we have the equipment you’ll need and the expertise to progress you safely along your strength and conditioning program to prepare you to get back on the court or field.

SquatMax MD Belt Squat

This belt squat system allows you to return to squatting heavier loads to challenge the musculature of the legs without loading the spine. With the load positioned below the athlete, this more closely mimics the natural squatting motion compared to other belt squat systems.

Self-Pay PT Practice

In a self-pay or “Cash-based” treatment model, we’re able to customize your care based on what you require.

You control the care, not the insurance company

You’ll pay for services directly which allows our team to provide you one-on-one specialized care fit to your needs. We’ll assess your current capacity and tailor your treatment based on your goals.

You can pay for physical therapy services with your HSA, FSA, credit/debit card.

We will provide you with a Superbill, or physical therapy receipt, that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Contact your insurance company to check your benefits specifics.
